For many of us who live here, when we think of Hawaii, we visualize the sky,

the clear blue waters of the ocean, the sandy beaches, the trees and flowers,

the people of various ethnic groups - living together and participating in each

other’s culture and celebrations.  The foods of this diverse population are

served in almost any home or restaurant.  Some of the homes over fifty years

old are still occupied by the original families.

These and many other unique features make this a special place for us.  It’s

the same for other people relocated elsewhere in the world - when they

reminisce about the things back home.  They find that they miss the people,

special places and events, the landscape and skies, the foods they used to

eat and their personal relationships.

Sometimes any little thing can trigger fond memories.
